Iced Cairo

The project for the ice cream shop ‘Eyescream and Friends’ in Cairo consists in the design of an outdoor kiosk and terrace in the lively area of Maadi. A corrugated galvanized steel cladding covers the façade to bring an industrial outlook while it complies with the food and beverage regulations. A 3x3m sliding door, leaning on a couple of bicycle wheels, allows the kiosk to directly connect with the street’s bustle and its immediate terrace. Inside, five boxes in a row allow customers to pick their trays – from a series of sliding shelves – and customize their own ice creams in all its phases; from shaving, to topping and eyeing, until they check out; enhancing their shopping experience. A black and white background accommodates the design of OSB wooden pieces of furniture and an accurate light design brings the attention to the product and the menu board.
